Welcome to our new General Manager!

Neil Roberts, has just joined the Church Green as our new General Manager.  He brings with him almost 17 years experience within the Catering and Hospitality industry.  Starting in his hometown hotel in Stevenage at 16, serving functions and weddings in-between studying for his A-Levels.  Neil’s first experience of modern British cookery was at one of Paul Heathcote’s ‘Simply’ sites whilst at university in Preston, Lancashire.  Furthering a career into restaurant management, Neil moved on to branded sites owned by The Restaurant Group and Whitbread, with a spell at The River Restaurant at the Lowry Hotel.

Married to Alyson, and with two sons, Neil had the opportunity to work at the prestigious Mere Golf Resort, where he continued his development serving large scale functions, charity dinners and assisting the running of the on-site rosette awarded ˜Browns’ Restaurant.

Neil continued his way up the management ladder by moving from Mere to Dunham Massey, by taking up the Deputy General Manager role at the popular village pub, the Axe and Cleaver. Here, he helped the site become one of the best performing Chef and Brewer’s in the country.  On the cusp of taking on a GM role, Neil celebrated his wedding anniversary at the Church Green with Alyson and when their taxi failed to show, they received an offer of a lift home from Aiden Byrne himself!  Small talk turned into a job application and the rest as they say is history!

We would like to welcome Neil to our family at the Church Green and wish him much success in the role.
